Speakers. Music. Worship. Members of the Class of 2021 were invited to attend the annual Senior Sermon May 19 starting at 6:30.

The theme of the sermon was slated to be about “Togetherness”.

Pastor Jerry Murrell gave the 23rd annual senior sermon this year at Lewis County High School. Murrell is pastor of the Way of Holiness Church in Buckhannon, WV. Many from LCHS and the surrounding area attend his church. The focus of sermon was about finding wise counsel, earning God’s love and making reparation for sins.

The praise and worship team from the Way of Holiness Church performed four songs.

Senior Kiley Gettings delivered the Invocation while Senior Emily Herron gave the Benediction.

Mrs. Debbie Gump, social studies teacher, provided testimony about her battle with cancer. She credited the prayers of others for her life and recovery.

Last week, the Youth Alive Club put out a survey to all seniors asking for a song preference, and the song chosen by seniors was played at the event.

A senior sermon was not held last year due to concerns about COVID-19, says Youth Alive club advisor Mrs. Barbara Spaur. Her efforts with the club are aided by Mrs. Laura Atha, and Mrs. Cheryl Smith. Spaur stressed that all are welcome regardless of religious affiliation, or lack thereof.

It was the last official event for the seniors before graduation.
