The LCHS Grapplers opened up with a match-up against Route 33 rival, Buckhannon-Upshur, Dec. 5. 

 The meet featured Julius Church, Dameon Wolfe, Brock Mitchell and Matthew Gibson gaining wins for the Minutemen. 

The team had 4 meets over Christmas Break including meets at Webster and Summersville where the grapplers won several individual match-ups. 

The season will wrap up with Big 10 Tournament, Regional Tournament. The grapplers said they hope to have an appearance at the WV State Wrestling Tournament in February. 

Last year’s team had 3 people representing Lewis County at the state tournament: Brock Mitchell, Joseph Blake and Will Kuhn. Will Kuhn will not be wrestling due to an injury during the fall football season.  

 The team is under the direction of Head Coach Bobby Mitchell and Assistant Coach Tom Rogers. 

Brock Mitchell’s 33-12 leads the team with individual wins.
