Math Team ‘Adds’ a Win March 8
March 9, 2017
LCHS’s Math Field Day Team took top honors at the March 8 Regional Math Field Day Competition at Alderson Broaddus College in Phillipi.
The team of a dozen LCHS students in grades 9-12 competed against the region’s top math minds. They came home with first place honors in Division B.
Team members met after school from 3:15-4:15 biweekly to prepare for the competition. Members were selected a few months ago based on the scores of a selection test administered by former math teacher Ms. Michelle Griffin.
Participating for LCHS were: seniors Alex Scott, Abbie Dodson, Olivia Miller, Katie Gatian, Natalie Gatian, Emilee Spangler; juniors Jacob Cruz, Tyler Drummond, Daniel Batten; sophomore Makenna Spangler; freshmen Mason Atha and Cheyenne Henline.
The team was advised by Ms. Ciara Davis, math teacher.
