Broadcast Students Get First-Hand Experience
October 3, 2016
A first for LCN.
Eighteen broadcast journalism students participated in the first-ever live studio audience for the pre-game show for the 96.3 WOTR/WHAW pre-game coach’s corner.
Coach’s Corner features LCHS Head Football Coach Dustin Cogar and sports broadcaster Mr. Joey Pickens.
The broadcast airs each Friday during football season and is normally recorded in Cogar’s office. However, the duo opened their broadcast to LCN journalism students in the newly renovated media studio.
The duo discussed the upcoming game as well as highlights from the previous week in front of student journalists.
They then talked to students giving them advice, information and stories from the ‘road’ following the ten-minute broadcast.
“We want to thank Mr. (Steve) Peters for allowing us to be a part of the broadcast and learn valuable information about the radio broadcasting industry,” Mrs. Lesley White, journalism teacher, said. “We hope we can do this again.”
